Many years ago, when
we were perturbed with growing intervention of business houses in the field of
astrology, especially on the internet, we conceptualized AstroDevam.com, to cater to the need of online astrology.
today, AstroDevam.com is considered best website on Astrology. After starting this massive project, we faced many issues. One of them, there
was an issue to choose a motto for us.
We went through so
many sentences, poems, verses and Shlokas. We were searching for the one with
which we could identify, and which could reflect our vision. There were many
contenders.
Besides those from Sanskrit, Hindi and English, we even thought of
Urdu couplets, especially written by revered Bashir Badra. However, at last we
settled with Sanskrit, keeping in view historical background of Astrology,
Vastu and other related sciences and their affinity with Sanskrit.
Even after choosing
Sanskrit, our work was not easy, in view of rich depository of this language.
We went through Vedas, Puranas and other great literature. Finally, we culled
out more than hundred good Shlokas and sentences, called ‘Sookti’ in Sanskrit for
our astrological website.
To make our work easy,
we set parameters for our motto:
1.
It should not very obscure and philosophical,
2.
It should not appear that it has been chosen to
reflect our knowledge of the language,
3.
It should not be unheard type,
4.
It should reflect our vision and purpose behind our
website http://astrodevam.com, today considered Best astrology website, among the crowd of astrology websites,
5.
And finally, it should be easy to comprehend.
Finally, we pinpointed great and
reasonably famous Shloka/ verse from Mahabharat, which is ascribed to Great
King Rantidev. The Shloka is as under:
न त्वहं कामये राज्यं, न स्वर्गं न अपुनर्भवं l
कामये दुःखतप्तानां
प्राणिनामार्ति नाशनं ll
The literal meaning of this Shloka is that I do not aim for any empire, neither heaven, nor the ultimate salvation. The only desire with me is that all those beings, which are in pain, may be relieved of their miseries.
Latter I translated this great Shloka in English verse, as under:
Not aiming an
empire, neither Heaven nor salvation;
Rooting out
miseries is our only mission.
